School Council

At High Spen we value the voices of our pupils.  Often, they may spot things around school that they would like to have a say in and for this reason we have our trusty group of School Councillors to help us.  At the beginning of each year, two children from each KS2 class are chosen to represent their class voice. They then bring issues to staff that they feel passionately about. After discussions, they then put into action their plans. In the past, children have chosen new playground equipment, helped appoint school artists and asked the wider school what treats they would like to have using PTFA funds, e.g. a trip to the pantomime. They've also helped with whole school fundraising events and they do a fantastic job of sharing key messages with the wider school in assemblies.  It is a key role in school which children take real pride in doing.
